Investigation of the upper respiratory tracts of the Siirt colored morogat goat with silicone plastination and scanning electron microscope (SEM)

In this study, it was carried out to reveal the changes in the surface structure of the upper respiratory tract in Siirt colored angora goats with the silicone plastination method. For this purpose, the total skulls of 10 Siirt colored Angora goats, which we obtained from slaughterhouses, were divided into two halves. Half of the skulls obtained were plastinated. After macro comparisons were made, scanning electron microscope (SEM) findings of both upper respiratory tract tissue samples taken from plastitnates and fresh material were compared and the deformations of silicone plastination on the surface were examined. It was determined that the plica rectalis, which is one of the anatomical structures in the upper respiratory tract, shrunk by 17%. Concha nasalis ventralis was found to be the most transversely shrinking structure with a rate of 63% in anatomical structures plastinated. When scanning electron microscopy data were examined, cilia, cobblestone pattern, goblet cells and glandular ducts on the epithelial surface were detected in places on the upper respiratory tract. SEM images taken from the plasine tissues showed degeneration of the surface structures due to deformation in the surface epithelium. In conclusion, in our study, the upper respiratory system of the Siirt colored angora goat was examined by scanning electron microscopy. It was determined that the plastination technique damaged the structures in the surface epithelium. Since the plastination technique and scanning electron microscope were first studied together, we think that it will contribute to the literature.
