Abstract (EN)
İn the first part of this thesis, the natural radioactivity level have been measured for the spring water samples collected from different locations of city of Sıle-Kandıra- Izmıt in order to provide a radiological risk map. Regarding to this aim, the activity concentrations of 222Rn in the water samples collected from different regions of Sıle-Agva-Kandıra, have been measured by the method "RAD7". The results of the analysis are: Maximum Radon activity 7,810 Bg/L, minimum Radon activity 0,334 Bg/L. However, the reported values in this study are lower than the levels of action recommended by different world monitoring agencies; US EPA, UNSCEAR, etc. Therefore, we can say that the spring waters does not constitute any health hazard for the life of the people in this region. In the second part of the study, with a total of 1,779 people Radon awareness surveys were carried out, including academic staff, students and administrative staff of Sakarya University. The results were analyzed in excel and C++ programs and statistical results were explained.
