Özet (EN)
In this laboratory research, influence of the use of Silica Fume (SF), which is provided from Antalya Etibank Etektrometahirji Plant, on mortar and concrete properties was investigated. Measured properties of silica fume mortar and concrete prepared using different amount of silica fume and water-binder ratio were compared with the control mortars and concretes made with Normal Portland Cement (NPC) only. The results of testing carried out showed that 10%, 15% and 20% replacement of silica fume with cement in mortar result an increment in compressive and tensile strength, resistance to abrasion and, it reduced porosity and capillary water absorption coefficient compared to control mortar made with NPC only. However, replacement of 40% silica fume was found to be less effective than the former replacement ratios. Concrete compressive strength made with silica fume was found to be, in the order of 50%, higher than the conrol concrete made with NPC only. The results obtained also showed that compressive strength of silica fume mortar and concrete cured in dry environment was influenced more than that of NPC concrete. Keywords: Silica Fume, Mortar, Concrete, Compressive Strength
