Folk medicine in Silvan (Diyarbakır)

In this study, the common beliefs and practices of the folk medicine belonging to the central districts and villages of the Silvan which is a district of Diyarbakır province are emphasized . After giving general information about or the area and history of our research general information about folk medicine has been given In Silvan district folk medicine and physical illnesses and practice, treatment methods , materials used and treatment centers in folk medicine have a been emphasized . From the past to the present day, the Silvan people resort to quarries, sickles doctors and broken-outs to protect and cure diseases with folk medicine methods. As a result of this research, Silvan has been found in the traces of ancient folk medicine, which has been carried on daily and preserved in public in Anatolia. Many of these traces have continued to exist by being mixed with Islam .
