Reflection of eye and bull images in contemporary Turkish sculpture art in the context of symbolic expression

With the progress of need for worship, perceptibel indicators were gained importance, Wall drawings and objects like portable amulets were produced by primitive socities. Need of production which underlies this was shaped around the rituals, gained mystical values. When the history of art is shown as an example, the illustrated and three-dimensional narratives of religious myths from the Central Asian and Mesopotamian Civilizations, and the conceptual depictions of the mystical form the infrastructure of what we call culture. Usage for aesthetic purposes, value attribution to productions established the intuitive link. Communites approached to signs and objects to reflect their ideas, emotions by compromise. As a result of that concept of symbol is established. The meaning of activities which based on symbolized expression for nowadays mankind can be understandable by previous Fundamentals. Usage of symbol or sign provides communication with the universal intuitive attitudes and multi-discipliner approaches to the mass, group or society in the art of sculpture. This develops a language which can not attach to written sources and rules that provides ease of communication. The statues of artists which stands in the Turkish plastic arts can be specified as an example of symbol. These statues which belongs to magical and symbolic meanings, out of traditional style opened a different view, in the plastic understanding aspects of our culture with its own genre that feels to the audiences. The indicator, which we call icon, is a tool in the beginning. Afterwards, it is reproduced and created in the artist's own mind and thought as a tool-value and today a value in itself. However, the fact, which we call symbol, continues without shedding its first meaning and sheds light to the present and suggests ways and methods to create new thoughts and images to the artist. In this study, it is aimed to be able to come up with the historical roots of the images of the eyes and bulls in the context of symbolic expression, to reveal how important they are in human life, to emphasize their place within the phenomenon we call art, and to present their suggestions in order to make their effect visible in today's Turkish sculpture and analyze their codes. Again, it is aimed to guide those interested in the subject and to create a bibliography.
