Dream representations in cinema and its assessment in the context of Omer Kavur's cinema

Dreams expressed in various forms in all branches of art from past to present are phenomena that occur outside the rules of time and space that are valid in daytime life. Cinema, which can dominate the concepts of time and space, is undoubtedly the most prone to provide a dream-like experience among all branches of art. Rather than using the phenomenon of dream within a film, giving a dream-like experience is more about the way that film resembles dreams in structure, form and aesthetics. The aim of this study is to determine the way in which dream representation in cinema should be realized. In this context, it is tried to find the equivalent in cinema by examining the functioning and internal logic of dreams. Dream representations in cinema have been investigated by giving examples from world and Turkish cinema. Detailed investigations of how dream representation can be realized in the cinema have been made through the films of Ömer Kavur. The films of Ömer Kavur were analyzed in terms of structure, form and aesthetics and it was concluded that they were films that embraced the internal logic of dreams and in this manner they provide dream experience to their audience.
