Mânis is one of the oral cultural products of Turkish folk poetry that has been in use since ancient times and has the widest area of use. Mâni, which has lived and preserved its existence in Türkish culturel for centuries, contains cultural, social and psychological diversity In this respect, mânis constitute zn importnt resource in determining and analyzing the elements of the culture to hwhich they belong, by keeping a social identity in their structure. The aim of this study is to determine the position of the mânis, which are compiled in the oral literature culture environment of Sinop Province Ayancık District, within the tradition of chanting and to reflect the tradition of chanting mâni in social life to some extent. In the study, mânis compiled in Ayancık district were examined in terms of form and classified according to their subjects in detail. In the compiled mâni, information about the cultural characteristics of Ayancık from the past to the present, its social structure and the relations between the people of the district come to the fore. The mânis compiled in Ayancık provide important details about the mentality, lifestyle, worldview and human relations of the people in the district.
