Özet (EN)

The most important traffic problem in urban cities is intersections which occur by the road networks in different directions and the flow changes at these intersections. Signalization systems are frequently used in urban traffic as a control device. Signalization systems ensure safety of pedestrians and vehicles as well as being created in order to increase the capacity. However some mistakes in design process of the signalized intersections cause accidents, delay and decrease the capacity. In this thesis, the headway of the following vehicles was investigated at signalized arterials. Headways were investigated by their positions to the signalization points, before the signalization, after the signalization and on the signalization stop-line. Aims of this study are modeling of vehicle headways and determine the proportion of the free following and bunched vehicles. Therefore capacity of an unsignalized intersection which placed near the signalization point could be determined. Based on the analysis of the study examined the value and a calculation method for the saturation flow for the investigated intersections.
