Performance analysis and simulation of signalized intersections: Erzincan province example

ncreased. Due to this increasing number of vehicles, unwanted problems have occurred in traffic. These problems can be listed as delay, harmful gas emissions and traffic congestion and they have occurred especially in urban intersections. For this reason, it is very important for the society to reach the most ideal solution in intersection design. With today's technology, the most ideal solution can be reached and observed with simulation programs without any application in the field. In this study, the route which is one of the routes with the most traffic in Erzincan and extending along the city center and the city center and the east of the city has been examined. It has been aimed to improve the traffic in the corridor by examining seven signalized intersections in this corridor. CO2 emission, delay time, VOC emission, tail length, NOx emission, speed, waiting time and travel time have been used as design criteria. Seven different scenarios have been created. These scenarios have been examined with AIMSUN simulation program. The best scenario among the simulation results has been determined by using TOPSIS method. In the study, Dörtyol and Eski Terminal Intersections have been determined as modern roundabouts. As a result of the study, in this corridor, CO2 emission by %10, delay time %35, VOC emissions by %14, tail length by %35, NOx emission by %13, waiting time by %38 and travel time by %19 have decreased. Speed has increased by %15. The best case has been determined as scenario 4.
