Abstract (EN)

This paper presents findings of an investigations of pedestrian movement characteristics at site studies. Pedestrian crossing speed and pedestrian delay are important parameters for traffic engineering. Safe transportation planning can design by using convenient forecasting parameters. Therefore for planning safe transportation system, İzmir?s pedestrian crossing speeds and pedestrian delay should be investigated at sites. For this purpose, surveys were conducted at six signalized intersection of four-lane roads in busy suburban strips with high volumes of vehicle traffic. Informations about different groups of pedestrians? crossing speeds obtain from these surveys. By using the collected data from the surveys pedestrian delays for each signalized crossing are also tried to be investigated using the formulations at the literature.
