Mergers and acquisitions: The case of Turkey

To provide continuity in terms of companies, differentiated and challenging competitive conditions has become quite important to be able to grow and be able to withstand a situation. Among the methods of the mergers and acquisitions firm growth has become one of the most widely used methods. This increase of mergers has required that this issue is addressed. Turkey's current conditions, to be addressed in terms of both domestic companies and foreign companies acquisitions and mergers are important for the understanding of economic conditions. Also, in this case, coming from outside of Turkey and in terms of our understanding of the potential of their investments in Turkey will help us. In the survey, the mergers and acquisitions of the companies in the sector in Turkey for the period of 1996-2011 was examined within the scope of Bureau Van Dıjk Company Merger and Acquisition of Company (Zephyr). As a result of the research, it has been determined that privatizations have a significant share in mergers and acquisitions in Turkey. The values for mergers and acquisitions reached record levels during periods of increased privatization.
