Abstract (EN)

Management structures of companies differ in small, medium-sized, and large enterprises. On the other hand, compared to medium-sized and small firms, it is accepted that unions find the opportunity to organize more easily in large companies. Apart from the small, medium-sized and large firms, management structure also has different characteristics regarding whether the firms are family businesses. This study aims to analyze the management structures effect on union organization and collective bargaining, based on the family-run business concept. The data set used for this research was obtained from the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) and the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Services. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and Chi-Square tests in terms of differences between company types. The strength and direction of the relationship between the dependent and independent variables of the study were measured by Pearson correlation analysis. Finally, Hierarchical and Logistic (Binary) regression analyzes were used to define the dependent variables. According to the results of the regression analysis, it was seen that the type of company is the explanatory variable of unionization. In model 2, all variables together can explain unionization at a rate of 33,3%. On the other hand, industry and company age variables that are statistically significant in this model, were not found to explain unionization. Secondly, the correlation analysis results show that there is a significant and positive correlation between unionization and the variables of company type, preferred share and company age. On the other hand, the correlation between unionization and the number of family members, family member ratio, family capital ratio, and the sector is negative. Accordingly, unionization increases as the number of family members in family businesses, family members in management, and family share in the capital decrease. Similar results; the number of unionized workplaces, the number of employer unionized workplaces, and the number of workplaces with collective agreements were found separately for the dependent variables. Finally, ANOVA analyzes show that there are statistically significant differences in terms of dependent and independent variables. Keywords: Family businesses, trade unionism and collective bargaining, transfer of management, institutionalization.
