The investigation of protective effect of RJX on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity

Abstract (EN)

Cisplatin is an anticarcinogenic substance and is widely used in the treatment of cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of rejuveinix, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and renal protective effects, in cisplatin-related acute kidney injury. Our study was randomized into 4 groups with 40 male wistar albino/sprague dawley rats (n=10 in each group; age: 6/8 weeks) after the approval of Fırat University 'Local Ethics Committee on Animal Experiments'. Control, Cisplatin, Rjx, Sisplatin+Rjx groups were created. Renal damage was caused by cisplatin administration to the cisplatin group. The cisplatin+RJX group was treated with 7 mg/kg RJX. In our study, kidney function tests; BUN, creatinine, proinflammatory cytokines; NF-kB, COX-2, oxidative markers; MDA in serum and kidney tissue, anti-inflammatory cytokine; Nrf-2, HO-1 levels were examined. When the controls, Cisplatin, RJX and Cisplatin+RJX groups were compared in terms of NF-kB, COX-2, Nrf-2, HO-1, BUN, creatinine, serum and kidney MDA levels, a statistically significant difference was found between all groups (p<0.05). Compared with the cisplatin group control group, there was a significant increase in NF-kB, COX-2, BUN, creatinine, serum and kidney MDA levels and a significant decrease in Nrf-2, HO-1 levels (p<0.05). In the RJX and Cisplatin+RJX groups, these parameters were found to be reversed (p<0.05). In the histopathological examination of renal tissues, a decrease in hydropic degeneration and inflammatory cells was detected in the groups treated with rejuveinix. In this study, we concluded that rejuveinix has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and renal protective effects in cisplatin-related acute kidney injury.
