Abstract (EN)

Prostate cancer is a multifactorial disorder, where ethnicity, age, smoking, diet and genetic factors play a role in the generation of this disorder. Compared with other countries, after lung cancer, prostate cancer is the second most seen lethal cancer. Different studies were undertaken in prostate cancer, for example on cell systems or animal model studies.CYP450 enzyme levels are under genetic control. Some of the polymorphisms of the cytochrome p450 enzyme system are said to be susceptible for atrial fibrilation, pulmonary embolism, stroke, venous thrombosis, coagulation disorders, cardio vascular disorders, depression, diabetes, drug toxicity, epilepsy, hypertension and schizophrenia susceptibility.VKORC1 is an enzyme that controls the reproduction of reduced vitamin K. VKORC1 is important in vitamin K dependent hemostasis. It is postulated that VKORC1 gene plays an important role in angiogenesis of cancer cells.Due to this facts, in this study, we analyzed the role of CYP2C9 and VKORC1 gene polymorphisms in prostate cancer ethiology. The study was undertaken on 48 patients and 48 controls, by analyzing CYP2C9 and VKORC1 gene subunit variations in prostate cancer patients. As a result, six polymorphisms of CYP and eight of VKORC1 were found unimportant, statistically. When interprenting this results, the small group of patient and control should be considered.
