A study of the Sivas elegies with folklore

Humans have been affected by the formation of life. Sometimes they survived, suffering deaths. It can be passed through painful experiences. These feelings pouring into games from the heart are called "lament". The lament, the death event, will be sung as those who speak of the past. These emotional words that come together have been from the language of other people who arouse deep feelings such as natural disasters and homesickness, and have flowed through the ages. Laments are one of the most important elements of our national culture. Through the laments, information can be obtained on many subjects such as the region where the lament was compiled, the cultural level of the region, religious beliefs, social life, beliefs, traditions and customs, especially the people who wrote the lament and lamented. In this context, laments are an important source that plays the role of the carrier of our national culture. In this study, which we continue under the title of "Examination of Sivas Laments with Folklore Methods", there are a total of 90 laments compiled from two sources, oral and written. In our study, besides the subjects such as the speakers of the laments, the reason for the lamentation and the people to whom the laments are sung, the socio-cultural function of the laments, the form and content of the lament were examined. The compiled forms of the laments along with their stories have taken their place in the study. The first part of the thesis, which consists of five chapters, is A Study of the Folk Song and Lament in terms of Structure, Content and Tradition; the second part, the Tradition of Lamentation in Sivas in the Context of Execution; the third part, A Study of the Laments Compiled in Sivas in Terms of Form and Content; the fourth part, The Individual and Social Functions of Sivas Laments; the last part is titled The Lament Texts.
