Epidemic diseases came to the Ottoman geography due to reasons such as trade, pilgrimage and migration. In the 19th century, epidemics such as cholera, plague, epidemics and flowers caused great loss of life and property in Anatolia. The cholera outbreak has left deep traces both in the rulers and the public in the Ottoman geography and has continued its effect for decades. In order to combat epidemics in the state, a search was made for solutions, and with a series of innovations, scientific studies in the country gained momentum. The Ottoman state tried to minimize the effects of these epidemics by taking measures. The subject of the cholera epidemic in Sivas was discussed in all aspects, and the preventive measures taken in the fight against the epidemic in the country and their application areas in Sivas were discussed in detail. In the first part of the study, which consists of two chapters, the definition of cholera epidemic, the symptoms and the spreading areas in the world were given information. In the second chapter, the protective measures taken in the cases of cholera in the Ottoman Empire in general and Sivas in special were examined under the titles.
