The changing face of civil society organizations with the Syrian crisis: The Mardin example in the context of social work practices

The Syrian crisis closely concerns Turkey since the year 2011. Over time, the crisis has turned into a migration crisis for Turkey. Syrian refugees with open-door policy for a long time entered Turkey from the Syrian border. The needs of this immigrant mass have been met by many platforms. Today, the Syrian citizens, who have to fill their ten years in Turkey, were held in the camps of refugees at the first step, as they were thought to be temporary. However, the camps were insufficient in terms of capacity and the refugees who did not want to live in isolation from social life in the camps migrated to the cities and joined the social life. The refugees, which communicated with public institutions and joined to the society, had faced with new problems and new needs. The Turkish Government was insufficient to meet these new needs. To the aid of this mass, which is confronted with various new needs and problems. and to fill the government's vacancy the field of civil society has taken action. However, the process has become chronic and the needs of the refugees have changed. Civil society, which changed its approach in the face of changing needs, started to change over time. As a result, changes in various dimensions and functions have occurred in the field of civil society. It is possible to see this change while civil society communicates with asylum seekers, the state and stakeholders and activities are carried out. This change process of civil society, which has been criticized in many ways, is great importance for the future of civil society. The essence of the study is based to the interviews with 10 NGO / INGO employees, which interviews were conducted with 20 open-ended questions. As a result, there are findings that non-governmental organizations have undergone changes in their activities and their approach to refugees and NGO-NGO relations, NGO-state relations and NGO-municipality relations.
