Abstract (EN)
This study examines the factors predicting burnout levels among professionals working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Significant relationships were identified between burnout and cognitive emotion regulation strategies, stress coping styles, and perceived organizational support. Independent t-tests and one-way ANOVA revealed significant relationships between various demographic variables (such as, job description, and total work experience) and burnout levels (p<.05). Pearson correlation analysis was used to assess the relationships between variables, and sub-dimensions significantly associated with burnout were included in simple linear regression analyses. Among cognitive emotion regulation strategies, self-blame, acceptance, rumination, and blaming others significantly predicted professional burnout in a positive direction, while the positive reappraisal strategy negatively direction (p<.001), accounting for 40% of the variance. For stress coping strategies, optimistic approach and helplessness/self-blame were significant predictors of burnout levels (p<.001), explaining 21% of the variance. Perceived organizational support significantly predicted burnout and was identified as the strongest predictor, explaining 47% of the variance (p<.001). Finally, hierarchical regression analysis demonstrated that the significance of each independent variable in predicting burnout remained across stages: in the first stage, the duration of working in NGOs; in the second stage, the inclusion of cognitive emotion regulation strategies; and in the third stage, the inclusion of stress coping strategies. However, in the fourth stage, when perceived organizational support was added, its predictive power on burnout disappeared.
