Investigation of general and special combination abilities in sivri and dolma peppers

Hybrid seeds are at the forefront of vegetable production all over the world. These hybrid seeds are created with the help of various breeding method. To method it is possible to grow the most efficient and desired quality products.The examination of general and special combination ability is important in terms of creating new and desired hybrids in breeding. In the general combination ability test, all available lines are crossbred with a single parent separately and the resulting hybrids are compared with each other. Thus, lines with superior characteristics are selected as having superior general combination ability. The parent candidates selected in the general combination ability test are subjected to a special combination test in the second stage.Special combination ability is a feature that expresses which of the parent candidates are better compatible with when they are crossbred with different lines.In this study, the selected lines available were subjected to certain crossbreedings.After the hybrids that showed superior performance in crossbreeding, namely the general combination ability, our selected parents passed to the special combination ability examination stage.
