Reading revelation of Holy Quran through Siyar and Meghazî the case of Badr Battle in the Surah al-Anfal

One of the milestones of Islam in the course of its sound construction process, is the Battle of Badr. The most reliable resource that we refer to, in order to understand the Battle of Badr, is the testimony of the Holy Quran. In the Holy Quran, the surah which tells us the Battle of Badr in detail is Surah al-Anfal. Right after the Holy Qur'an, the second source that helps us to understand this important event is the life of prophet Muhammad ( siyar). Learning this crucial event, which has an important place in the prophet Muhammad's life through the siyar provides us a better understanding of it. In this study, which was prepared mainly by benefiting from these two main resources, we tried to understand and explain in detail the events that led to the Battle of Badr and the underlying developments. It is clear that while reading the whole Quran entirely and Surat al-Anfal in particular, we must take into account the historical background. Accordingly, in this study, while examining the Battle of Badr with the help of the Surah al-Anfal, we tried to verify and compare the historical background and the development of the event in the light of the siyar. The aim of this study which-apart from siyar, has been prepared by making use of history of Islam and sciences of Quran, is underlying the necessity of taking in to account of the historical background for understanding the holy Quran correctly.
