Monocyte lymphocyte ratio, neutrophil lymphocyte ratio, thrombocyte lymphocyte ratio, systemic immunication inflammation index and systemic immunitive immunity before and after the use of closapine in patients with schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a complex disease, the pathogenesis of which has not yet been elucidated. Early diagnosis and treatment are of great importance because it is a disease that can cause significant disability. There is no diagnostic biomarker yet. The most important studies for diagnosing the disease and predicting its course have focused on immune parameters. The increasing number of data on the relationship between schizophrenia and the immune system has drawn the attention of mental health professionals. The effects of finding biomarkers, obtaining a potential treatment option, and the used treatment options on immunity are investigated. Keywords: schizophrenia, neuroinflammation, clozapine, systemic immune inflammation index, systemic immune response index In this study, patients who received inpatient and outpatient treatment at Bursa Uludağ University Mental Health Clinic between 2012 and 2022 and were started on clozapine were included. The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLO), monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR), systemic immune inflammation index (PlateletxNeutrophil/Lymphocyte) (SII) and systemic immune response index (Neutrophil x Monocyte/Lymphocyte) (SIYI) were calculated as indicators of inflammation. It was investigated whether these values differed in the period after starting clozapine. As a result of the study, it was determined that TLR, MLR and SIYI measurements at the first week and 1-3-6. months did not differ significantly. It was found that SII and NLR values decreased statistically significantly in the first week and did not show a significant difference between other measurement times. Many studies are needed to examine the relationship between the immune system and psychotropics, such as clozapine, whose mechanisms of potent efficacy have not yet been elucidated.
