Abstract (EN)

Male Sprague Dawley rats, 6-28 weeks old, weighing 250-300 grams, were included. Afterwards, the effects of mitoquinone, a mitochondrial antioxidant, on biochemistry, brain tissue, cognitive and memory functions, synergistic effects with other drugs, and side effects were investigated in an experimental Alzheimer's model. The study was completed with 37 male sprague dawley rats. In the laboratory examinations, TAS values were found to be significantly higher in the samples taken from the hippocampus tissues of the rats in the treatment group, while TOS values were found to be significantly lower than the other groups. Mitoquinone significantly decreased IL-6 and TNF alpha values in the inflammation parameters, while a significant improvement was observed in MDA values in the treatment group. In behavioral experiments; significant improvement in memory function was observed in the rats in the treatment group, but most were statistically insignificant. In platform-finding distance, another indicator of memory function, the treatment group was statistically significantly better. In the probe day data, although the time to stay in the S3 zone, which is an indicator of cognitive and cognitive functions, was better in the treatment groups, it was not statistically significant.Our study is regarded as a first in the literature to examine effects of mitoquinone in an experimental Alzheimer's model. The potential benefits that we discovered and the fact that it can be used in conjunction with existing Alzheimer's medications offer hope for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and potential prophylactic. In our opinion, it's critical to confirm its impacts on dementia, one of the most significant geriatric issues today, with additional research and to evaluate findings in larger sample sizes.
