Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Various techniques are used to model the complex - subsurface of Earth in geophysics. One of these techniques is to use the seismic P - and S - waves, and to quantify the relation between porosity and Poisson 's ratio. Previous studies were shown that the Poisson' s ratio was high in fine-grained and high-saturated formations whereas it was low in dense and low-saturated formations. It is known that the Poisson' s ratio increases as the porosity decreases and the porosity decreases with depth. The work in this thesis was to quantitify the Poisson ratio - Porosity relation for the shallow sediments in Burhaniye, Balıkesir. In this work, the porosity and the Poisson' s ratio were computed numerically and the relation between porosity and the Poisson's ratio was determined for the shallow sedimentary structure. The Least - Squares technique was applied on these computed porosity and Poisson's ratio values and the relation between the porosity and the Poisson's ratio was determined analytically. -^vOssntöCRiriMKimüuı
