Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of squeeze casting method on microstructure and mechanical properties of AlSi5Mg alloy was investigated. Two different parameters were used temperature and pressure. While the pressure values are 0 MPa, 150 MPa and 250 MPa respectively, the temperature values of our mold are 150oC, 174oC and 181oC. During the tests, pressure and temperature values were continuously monitored and recorded. Squeeze casting is similar to a pressure die but has different process steps. The biggest difference is that the mold is pre-cast and during the casting process that has certain temperature. Also each alloy cannot be cast in the squeeze casting process. SEM, EDS, dot-map analyzes of the samples were made and mechanical properties were performed by tensile testing. As a result, more non-porous microstructure, smooth surface and good mechanical values were obtained in high pressure applied samples. Yield and tensile strengths increased in direct proportion with pressure.
