Student? misbehaviours and investigating tackling strategies of primary teachers and branch teachers in fifth classes of primary education

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is the investigation of student? misbehaviours and what tackling strategies are used by primary teachers and branch teachers in fifth classes in primary education.The research population consisted of primary teachers and English language teachers who attends the fifth classes of the primary schools in Cizre town of Şırnak in 2008-2009 Education and Teaching season. In the reasearch which was designed by using both quantitative and qualitative research models, convenience sampling method from purposing sampling was used as a sampling method. In this context, including Cizre center and also the villages subordinated to the center , totally 115 teachers, 84 primary teachers and 31 English language teachers in 18 primary schools in total were reached and questioned. Totally 12 teachers, 6 primary teachers and 6 English language teachers who were willing was interviewed among the teachers who were questioned.The datas which are required for this research were obtained by utilizing the related literature, applying the questionnaire which was developed by appealing to an authority view and interviews with the teachers. At the analyse of the datas which were obtained by using questionnaire the packet programme SSPS 13.0 was used, the results were presented as frequency and percentage. The interview was recorded by a video camera and resolved by content analyse. Symptoms which were obtained from the research can be summarized so:When primary teachers stated that the most encountered misbeviours are talking to each other, talking without permission, queering the running of the lesson willingly, exhibiting agressive attitudes towards friends, not doing homework, not doing duties, abusing, lying, theft, and not listening to teacher; English language teachers stated that the most encountered misbehaviours are talking to each other, queering the running of the lesson willingly, complaining about each other, exhibiting agressive attitudes towards friends, swearing, lying, doing different things during the lesson.It is concluded that meanwhile primary teachers mostly using orally warning, asking questions, eye contact, ignoring and making explanations strategies when they encountered misbehaviours; English language teachers mostly using orally warning, talking after the lesson, giving minus mark, ignoring and making explanations strategies when they encountered misbehaviours.Keywords: Class Management, Misbehaviours, Primary
