Determination of entrepreneurial characteristics and decision-making skill levels of class teachers: Ordu province example

This study aims to examine the entrepreneurial characteristics and decisionmaking skills of classroom teachers in terms of gender, educational status and length of service. The sample of the study consists of classroom teachers working in Ordu. In the study, the survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was adopted and the "Entrepreneurship Scale" and "Melbourne Decision Making Scale" were used as data collection tools. The obtained data were analyzed through the SPSS package program. As a result of the study, it was determined that the entrepreneurial characteristics of the classroom teachers and their self-esteem levels in decision making were high. It has been determined that entrepreneurial characteristics show significant differences in favor of male teachers in terms of gender, in favor of teachers with postgraduate education in terms of educational status, and in favor of highly experienced teachers in terms of length of service. In decision-making skills, it was determined that the level of self-esteem in decisionmaking showed significant differences in favor of male teachers in terms of gender and in favor of teachers with postgraduate education in terms of educational status, but no significant difference was found in terms of length of service. In addition, it has been determined that there are same-directional significant relationships between all sub-dimensions of the entrepreneurship scale, and an inversely significant relationship between decision-making self-esteem and avoidant decision-making and procrastinating decision-making styles among the decisionmaking scale sub-dimensions. In future studies, the relationship between entrepreneurship characteristics and different skills can be examined.
