Opinions of the classroom teachers related to teaching process in the game and physical activities lesson (The example of Rize province)

In this study, it is aimed to determine teachers' opinions about teaching process in the game and physical activities lesson. For this purpose, some open-ended questions were asked to the classroom teachers who work at primary schools. Accordingly, factors that affect process of the game and physical activities lesson, elements that affect this lesson for education program and their general thoughts and suggestions about the game and physical activities lesson were examined through interviews by asking open-ended questions. The population of the study is consisted of the classroom teachers working at the primary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Rize in the academic year of 2016-2017. The sample of the study consists of 9 classroom teachers who are in different professional experience levels. At the end of the study, it was found that the game book used in the game and physical activities lesson is insufficient, there are not enough play fields and materials at schools and school management and parents do not appreciate the lesson. For these reasons, it is seen that although teachers know the importance of games and their positive contributions to children's overall development, they do not teach this lesson making some excuses and just play the games they know. It was revealed that teachers have not received any seminars or in-service training related to the game and physical activity lesson, so they feel incompetent.
