Investigation of technology self - efficay in elementary school teachers and their attitudes towards technology based on Kirkpatrick's training evaluation model

The purpose of the this study is to evaluate elementary school teachers' attitudes towards technology integration based on Kirkpatrick's Training Evaluation Model. To this end, total of 200 elementary school teacheers who serve in public schools in Diyarbakır participated in this study. Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. In order to measure participants' self-efficacy related to technology, a questionnaire entitled Self-Efficacy of Teachers Concerning Educational Technology Standards questionnaire was used. The questionnaire consisted of six factors with 41 items in total. Also, another questionnaire was used to determine the level of knowledge on and the frequency of ICT use among teachers. All participants filled out the questionnaires. Moreover, among the particiopants, twenty teachers were selected randomly for interview. During the interviews open ended questions were asked to those twenty teachers. The main goal was to evaluate teachers' thoughts towards technology based on Kirkpatrick Training Evaluation Model. The results show that teachers had high self-efficacy in terms of technology. However, teacher interview results implied that while teachers had positive reaction towards technology, such positive attitude were not observed in other levels including learning, behavior, and results.
