Abstract (EN)

Recently, the use of montmorillonite (MMT) has become widespread for the removal of contaminants in the water due to its advantages such as high removal efficiency, ease of use and recovery of adsorbent. In this thesis, the removal of BR13 dye from aqueous solutions was investigated by using montmorillonite clay (organoclay) modified with sodium dodecyl sulfate. Since the modification process changed the adsorbent surface structure, the adsorption properties of the clay surface were improved with this process. MMT easily adsorbs contaminants such as BR13 dyes in water. In addition, XRD (X-Ray Diffractometer), BET surface area (Brunauer Emmet and Teller) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) analyzes of sodium dodecyl sulfate modified montmorillonite clay (MMT-SDS) were performed. In this study, the effect of pH, salinity, contact time, temperature, mixing speed, initial dye concentration and adsorbent dose on adsorption efficiency were investigated. The best removal efficiency was observed at 20 mg / l dye concentration, 0.01 g MMT-SDS dose, pH 4.38 (natural), 150 rpm stirring speed, 20 0C reaction temperature and the yield was calculated as 98.24%. In addition, the effects of solvents such as NaOH, NaCl, HCl and Ethanol on the reusability of adsorbent on desorption efficiency were investigated. In the light of the obtained data, the order for desorption efficiency was found as follows; Ethanol> NaOH> HCl> NaCl. In addition, to understand BR13's removal mechanism; Adsorption kinetics, thermodynamics and isotherm studies were performed. As a result of the studies, it has been determined that adsorption complies with Pseudo second order kinetic model, adsorption is endothermic and adsorption is best suited to Langmuir isotherm.
