Abstract (EN)

Due to rapid reduction of energy resources, developed countries? governments and global leading companies revised their future strategies about energy effectiveness. This trend can be brought up by scientific investigations which have been carried out in the last decade. Especially in the European Community, many regulations and directives have been published with the participation of both governmental and non-govermantal organizations to raise the consciousness level of the society. These progresses have triggered the innovative ideas for the manifacturers to remain competitive to comply with these regulations. This study represents effects of operation conditions on a domestic refrigeration system?s thermodynamical performance by modifying common components of said refrigeration system. This thesis study is composed of eight main chapters. In chapter one, motivation and aim of this study have explained in general terms as an introduction. The second chapter consists of literature research about thesis subject. As a result of literature research, any studies related to this study cannot be found. For this reason, literature research contains general working principles of domestic refrigeration system. In the next chapter, theoretical explanation of a domestic refrigeration system has presented.Experimental study, components and structure of the experimental setup explained in the first part of the chapter four. The final part of this chapter contains preparation stages of experimental work and uncertainty analysis. In chapter five, refrigeration components and their tolerances which have been used to modify the working conditions of refrigeration system have presented. Besides, theoretical and experimental studies which have been carried out to determine the effect of these mentioned tolerances on refrigeration system components have explained. In chapter six, main thermodynamical concepts which have been used to analyse system performance have presented. In chapter seven, effects of evaporation and condensation pressures, subcool and superheat degrees and compressor performance on the thermodynamical performance of a refrigeration system which have been obtained by experimental study, have analysed by Buckingham theorem. With the assistance of this theorem, variables effecting thermodynamical performance of a refrigeration system are defined as dimensionless parameteres and an empirical correlation was developed between the defined dimensionless parameters using least squares lineer regression algorithm. In the final chapter results of this study have been evaluated and suggestions have proposed.
