Abstract (EN)

Today, as a result of increasing motoriza traffic in the streets, children lost their change to play in the streets. Through the end of the 19. century, specialized children play spaces were being created, but this spaces were not ideal solution, because of the accebility problem to this areas and the hurdler of children?s creative play opportunities. Children had to create their own play spaces near their neighbourhoods. But because of traffic problems and strangers threat in the streets, children still have no chance to play in the streets with welfare.Today, children are becoming introverted day by day, instead of using the advantages of the street as a play space. İntroverted play style affects children?s health negatively, limit his-her creativity and prevent their socialization.Surveys in European Countries show that outdoor playing supports the creativity and development of children more than inside games. In Europe and more different countries, so many studies are being made to put in the importance of street for children development. The aim of these studies are to provide ideal play spaces for children in the streets in residential zones and to reevaluate the streets for whole society as a social platform. As a result, we can say that streets in Turkey should be reevaluated with this perspective and by the help of children?s participation. Designing ?for and with children? should be main purposes of our studies. We must try much more to create better cities for the children for our next generations.
