Determination of heavy metal contentin seeds,carpeks and fibers in cotton growing areas with different soil management systems in Söke plain

Objective: This study aimed to determine the amount of heavy metals in seeds, carpels, and fibers in cotton plants in the areas where cotton is cultivated with different soil management systems in the Soke Plain Material and Methods: In this context, certain macro (Mg, Na, K, Ca), micro, and potentially toxic element contents (Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Cd, Co, Cr, Ni, Pb) in carpels, seeds, and fibers were determined by the ICP-OES method in samples taken from 31 locations of traditional cotton cultivation and 2 locations where good agricultural practice is applied Results: According to the results obtained, it was determined that copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), and cobalt (Co) concentrations in the seeds, carpels, and fibers of the cotton plant were over the specified limit values in areas where traditional cotton cultivation and good agricultural practice were carried out. Conclusion: As a result, no significant difference was found between cotton plants cultivated with traditional methods and those grown with good agricultural practices in terms of potential toxic element concentration
