Three complexes commissioned by Sokullu Mehmet Pasha and structure protector identity: Luleburgaz, Havsa, Payas

Sokullu Mehmet Pasha, who was a successful statesman, a competent commander and a good administrator in the Ottoman Empire, is an important person who served as the Grand Vizier during the time of three Sultans. He gave his name to a period in the 16th century with his political and military achievements, remained in the background with his patronage of science and art. Protecting art and artists in the 16th century is among the important qualifications sought by Ottoman Administrators. Sokullu Mehmet Pasha also took under his protection many artists such as Baki, Nakkaş Osman, Seyyid Lokman, who were among the successful names of the period. He supported the production of new works, and the most "delicious" works of the period were dedicated to him. In addition, it was the biggest factor in the beginning of the sultan portraiture tradition in the Ottoman Empire. The buildings which are built by Sokullu Mehmet Pasha have very different functions; from mosque to church, from madrasah to caravanserai, from bridge to hospital, to fortress and pier. The number of structures stretching from the Balkans to Anatolia, from outside Anatolia to the Arabian geography exceeds two tousand. In the light of Sokullu Mehmet Pasha's foundation, it has been classified according to types and functions. Lüleburgaz, Havsa and Payas Complexes, which are among the 12 social complexes whose built by Sokullu, were detailed. The Social Complexes in Lüleburgaz, Havsa and Payas, which are discussed within the scope of the thesis, symbolize the power of both Sokullu Mehmet Pasha and the state with their construction in remote places, and come to the fore with their large dimensions and being equipped. It has a privileged position as it was built by Mimar Sinan. The original status of the mentioned Complexes and the changes they have undergone in history have been tried to be clarified, and the characteristics and common features of the units that make up the Complexes have been revealed.
