Abstract (EN)

DETERMINATION OF THE OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF TiO2THIN FILMS PREPARED BY SOL-GEL TECHNIQUESerdar BARDAKCISUMMARYKeywords: Sol-Gel processing, TiO2, thin film, optical transmittance, refractiveindexIn this study thin films of TiO2 are prepared on glass substrates by sol-gel technique. The solution used was mixture of titanium (IV) n-butoxide, ethanol, acetic acid anddeionized water. The films are prepared by dipping the substrates into the solution. Ineach time the substrates withdrawn from the solution with the speed of 84mm/min.After each coating the film allowed to dry at 110 C for 10 minutes. The filmthickness varies with the number of layer and final drying process. Multilayer filmswere prepared. The structure analyses of the crystalline films were studied through XRD. Accordingto experimental results TiO2 films show anatase phase.TiO2 has 99-100 % transparency at certain wavelengths. In UV region absorption ofTiO2 is high. The refractive index of films were determined from transmission spectraand it changes between 2,08 and 2,13. We have not observed any relationshipbetween the film thickness and refractive index.
