Özet (EN)

Computer music is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the second half of the twentieth century. In this genre, sound is produced digitally by computer calculations. For this reason, the development of computer music has been in line with the development of computer technologies and the code that was entered could not be calculated and converted to sound simultaneously until the 1990's. By the 2000's, most personal computers could create real-time computer music and thus, live performances in the genre of computer music became a possibility. However, this possibility came with with certain difficulties related to live performance of electronic music. It is possible for live coding, which has become a widespread branch of computer music in the 2000s and is based on the principle of writing and changing the algorithms used in sound synthesis mid-performance, to solve many of these problems. However, for such a solution to be implemented by electronic music performers, first of all, live coding should be made easy to learn and perform by not only computer musicians but everyone, via software such as Sonic-Pi. Sonic-Pi is a live coding software originally developed to teach young students programming. The unique development purpose and the content designed for this end ensure that the program meets the requirement of high learnability. However, it is currently not possible to use plug-ins, which are very common in electronic music, just with Sonic-Pi. This impossibility limits Sonic-Pi's functionality and appeal as a tool for electronic music. The subject matter of the study is based on the hypothesis that live coding can be a solution to the problem of live performance in electronic music. With this study, it is aimed to make live coding a more frequently used tool in electronic music performance. For this reason, in order to make live coding more attractive to electronic musicians, Sonic-Pi software has been expanded to support audio plug-ins widely used in electronic music, thus the functionality of Sonic-Pi as an electronic music tool is enhanced.
