Evaluation of Hittite history in terms of history teaching in social studies textbooks (2017-2018 period)

History is an important field that reflects the values of the society that includes human beings and ensures the continuity of the state and society. This aspect of history shows that history teaching is a sine qua non. The teaching of history in Turkey starts in elementary school. Different sources are used in history teaching. One of the main sources that help teachers and students is textbooks. In the preparation of the program and content in thetextbooks, the teaching factors on which the educational sciences are based as well as the mental and physical development of the student should be taken into consideration. Social studies textbooks were evaluated in terms of Hittite history teaching. The textbooks used between the years 2017/2018 were taken into consideration while examining the chapters related to Hittite history. The following issues were included in our research. Academic resources related to educational sciences, academic resources related to history teaching, and studies and articles in this field were examined. The issues determined by the training board were also taken into consideration. The visuals and texts' ability to reflect the gains of the unit related to the department were evaluated through visual and text.
