Evaluation of the social sciences coursebooks in the context of digitalization

This study has been conducted with the aim of determining the involution of the concept of digitalization in the learning areas of 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th-grade Social Studies coursebooks, identifying the associated achievements and concepts, and determining the frequency of its treatment in the learning areas. In accordance with the purpose of the study, qualitative research has been used as a research technique. The universe of this study was comprised by Social Sciences Coursebooks distributed by the Ministry of National Education to 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students and taught to students during their educational process. Examples of the study are the 4th grade Ferman Publishing coursebook, ATA publishing 5th grade coursebook and MEB publishing coursebook, 6th grade ANADOL publishing and MEB publishing coursebooks, 7th grade Ekoyay and MEB publishing coursebooks accepted by the Training and Education board of the Ministry of National Education. While the concept of digitalization has been increasing its importance over the last years and becoming more and more active in our daily life, this concept, which is also gaining importance in Social Sciences coursebooks, is being given more place. In the research using the document analysis method, respectively; the stages of determining the documents, checking the authenticity of the identified (found/reached) documents, analyzing the data and using the obtained results were followed.
