A Review on social studies lesson outcomes and coursebook and workbook activities regarding the maths lesson

Today, the individual profile formed by the social expectations from educational institutions against the needs of the age can be explained as creative, productive, enjoying learning, thinking critically, and connecting events. As a matter of fact, the interdisciplinary approach, which takes into account the knowledge and skills of different disciplines and contributes to the increase of student motivation, is highly regarded in the contemporary education system. In this study, which aims to examine the achievements of the 4th grade social studies course in primary school and the social studies course and workbook in terms of mathematical competencies, the achievements in the 2018 4th grade social studies curriculum, the 4th grade social studies course and workbook for primary school 1-4. In this study, whether it is related to the achievements of the 4th grade mathematics course or not was examined. For this purpose, document analysis, one of the qualitative research paradigms, was used in the study. The research data was obtained through document analysis and the study was carried out in accordance with the document analysis steps. The study data consisted of the 2018 primary school social studies curriculum, 2018 primary school mathematics curriculum, 4th grade social studies textbook and 4th grade social studies workbook published by the Ministry of National Education. Mathematical competencies needed by students in teaching social studies course outcomes were examined by associating them with social studies course outcomes and learning domains dimensions. In this context, when the achievements in the 2018 social studies curriculum are examined in terms of mathematical competencies, 25 in the field of individual and society learning, 33 in the field of culture and heritage learning, 84 in the field of learning people, places and environments, 44 in the field of science, technology and society learning, production, distribution and consumption learning. It has been determined that 113 mathematics course achievements in the field of learning active citizenship, 39 in the field of learning global connections and 34 in the field of learning global connections are related. Based on these results, when the learning areas of the 2018 4th grade social studies course curriculum are examined; It has been determined that the learning area that is most associated with mathematics acquisitions is the learning area of production, distribution and consumption with 113 acquisitions, and the learning area that is least related is the learning area of individual and society with 25 acquisitions. It has been concluded that the activities in the 4th grade social studies textbook are mostly related to primary school 1st grade and at least 2nd grade primary school mathematics course achievements. It has been concluded that the activities in the 4th grade social studies workbook are mostly related to primary school 1st grade level and at least 4th grade level primary school mathematics course achievements.
