Examination of social sciences course achievements and unit evaluation questions according to SOLO Taxonomy steps

Taxonomies are used as a measurement and evaluation tool in the preparation of programmes in education, in categorising students' existing knowledge and in testing students' answers. Considering that curricula are generally designed according to Bloom's Taxonomy, SOLO Taxonomy was preferred as an alternative in this study. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the Social Studies Curriculum and social studies textbook unit evaluation questions according to SOLO taxonomy steps. The study was conducted with qualitative research method. The data source of the study consisted of the achievements of the 2018 social studies curriculum and the unit evaluation questions in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade textbooks, while the study group consisted of social studies teachers working in Erzincan province centre. Criterion sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the study group. Descriptive analysis method was used for the data obtained through document analysis and content analysis method was used for the data obtained through semi-structured interview forms. According to the data obtained as a result of the research, it was seen that the most acquisition and assessment questions were in the one-dimensional and relational structure stage. However, it was concluded that the unidimensional and multidimensional structure was more when the achievement and assessment questions met each other.
