Teacher, student and parent opinions about homeworks given in social studies course

The aim of this research is to determine the opinions of teachers, students and parents about the homework given in the Social Studies course. The research was designed as a phenomenology study, one of the qualitative research designs. The research sample, in which maximum diversity sampling, one of the purposive sampling types, was used, consists of Social Studies teachers working in Batman province secondary schools in the 2021-2022 academic year, fifth, sixth and seventh grade students studying in these schools, and the parents of these students. The data of the study were collected by semi-structured interview technique, whose validity and reliability studies were carried out. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of qualitative data obtained from semi-structured interview forms. In the study, it was determined that students, teachers and parents perceive homework as responsibility, studies that increase academic success, reinforcement and subject repetitions, and that they find homework useful and should be given, but they also encounter various problems from time to time. It has been concluded that teachers usually give homework in the form of multiple choice and activities in the book, but students and parents should be given different activities, methods and techniques when giving homework from teachers. While teachers think that homework affects educational activities negatively in the periods of distance education, students and parents think that it is positive.
