Abstract (EN)

The widespread use of technology in daily life is influencing the learning preferences of young people. Students are increasingly choosing to utilize digital tools such as online education platforms, interactive learning materials, and virtual reality applications, in addition to traditional textbooks and classroom activities. These tools offer learning opportunities that cater to various learning styles. Integrating Web 2.0 tools in classroom activities can encourage more active participation among students. These tools enhance interactive learning by increasing students' engagement with course materials. Using Web 2.0 tools in Social Studies classes can provide a more interactive and participatory learning experience. Tools such as virtual classrooms, puzzles, social media platforms, interactive maps, and mind maps facilitate communication and idea exchange among students both inside and outside the classroom. This study has thoroughly investigated and analyzed the effects of materials designed with Web 2.0 tools on the academic success and attitudes towards Social Studies classes, as well as the motivation of students, within the learning area of culture and heritage in a 7th-grade Social Studies course. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups. Conducted during the 2023-2024 academic year at a public middle school in the central district of Elâzığ, the study involved administering achievement tests, attitude scales, and motivation scales as pre-tests and post-tests to experimental and control groups. A total of 58 students participated, with 29 in the experimental group and 29 in the control group. Statistical analyses of the quantitative data obtained during the research process were conducted using independent t-tests with the aid of the SPSS program. The findings revealed that the use of Web 2.0 tools had positive effects on teaching cultural heritage topics in the experimental group. Comparisons between the experimental and control groups showed that the use of Web 2.0 tools enabled students to learn cultural heritage topics more effectively and enhanced their achievement, attitudes, and motivation towards the class. Additionally, it was concluded that these tools reduced the monotony of the class and captured the students' attention more effectively. These findings demonstrate the value and effectiveness of integrating technology and using Web 2.0 tools in education to improve teaching methods and enhance students' learning experiences.
