Analysis of Atatürk's passion in the context of values in the social knowledge education program

In social studies education programs, values education has been placed more importantly, especially since 2005. In this context, it is aimed to make generations adopt universal values together with the official ideology of the Ministry of National Education. Literary texts are tools used effectively in values education. Since Nutuk is both a literary and historical work, it is a work that can be used effectively in social studies teaching programs. The Nutuk has been handled in a very fluent Turkish at the time it was written by Atatürk. Speech is a historical and literary text in which Atatürk put forward his political and military memories together with his documents without confusing his personal life. In this study, using the document analysis technique, it was investigated whether eighteen values defined in the Ministry of National Education Social Studies Education programs are processed in Nutuk, and with this examination, it was aimed to increase the use of these values in Nutuk in social studies teaching. As a result of the research, it was seen that there are values of independence, freedom, patriotism, peace, solidarity, responsibility, equality, diligence, scientificity, and giving importance to family unity, starting with the most emphasized of these values. It has been determined that although benevolence, sensitivity, honesty, aesthetics, respect, love and saving values exist within the general spirit of Nutuk, they are not processed separately. The reason for this is thought to be that the values of independence, freedom and patriotism have come to the fore in an environment of national struggle where the homeland and the nation are in a difficult situation.
