The effect of poetry on student's academic achievement in social studies teaching

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using poetry on the academic achievement of students in teaching social studies.Today, there are problems in teaching social studies. As we move in this direction, literary products may contribute to the solution of these problems, wethink that this space can be filled by taking poetry as an example.In this context 75.Yıl Alime Paşa middle scholl 7.th classes Demirci district of Manisa province, experiment (n=30) and control (n=30) group by taking two classes, Experimental design with control group was used with pretest-posttest. The control group was taught only to the constructivist approach model without using poems and it was understood that the use of poems contributed to teaching while the constructivist approach model in which the poems were used as a material was applied to the experimental group in the research. "Türk Tarihinde Yolculuk Başarı Testi" used in the study. The success test was applied both before and after the experimental procedure. The obtained data were analyzed with the help of SPSS program.
