Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this study is to determine the effects of oral and local history practices on students' conceptual achievements and awareness raising. The research was conducted in the 2017- 2018 academic year. The study group consists of 4th grade students in a state school in Çayeli, Rize. This study was designed according to the mixed method approach in which both quantitative and qualitative research methods are used. In this study, where the control group was not included, quantitative data were gat hered by the veril Conceptual Achievement Test (CBT) test. The qualitative data of the study were gat hered with the Activity Process Interview Form verbal and local history Semi-Structured Interview Form to determine the students' ideas about on verbal and local history practices. The analysis of the quantitative data used in the study was done by Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Qualitative data were transferred to computer and subjected to descriptive analysis. According to the quantitative results of the study, it is concluded that the activities carried out within the scope of the study have an effect on the students' conceptual achievements. According to the qualitative results of the study, it was observed that students generally expressed positive opinions about the practices of verbal and local history activities.
