Abstract (EN)

The low level of achievement-based readiness of students is one of the important problems encountered in social studies education research. This problem negatively affects students' participation in the course and the course process. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the strategy-based production game developed using the instructional design model on the students' achievement-based readiness levels. The exploratory sequential design of the mixed method was used in the research. Since technological tools were used in the study, the groups were determined by criterion sampling. The data obtained in the quantitative stage of the research were collected from a total of 171 students studying at 4 state secondary schools in Erzurum, while the data obtained in the qualitative stage were collected from 34 students and 3 teachers who participated in the research in the experimental group. In the experimental phase of the study, as a data collection tool, pre-test and post-tests prepared separately for each of the 6 achievements were applied to the experimental and control groups. In the experimental study that lasted for 6 weeks, the students in the experimental group were prepared for the lesson with a strategy-based production game, and the students in the control group were prepared for the lesson using flashcards consisting of pure texts compiled from the information in the game. In the qualitative phase of the study, semi-structured interview forms were used as data collection tool. Since the data obtained from the study were not normally distributed, non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, Kruskal Wallis H-test and Mann Whitney U-test were used for unrelated measurements. In the analysis of qualitative data, content analysis was performed. According to the results obtained from the tests, it was determined that the students in the experimental group were higher than the students in the control group. As a result of the research, besides preparing for the lesson by playing the strategy-based production game, it is recommended that the researchers conduct new studies on readiness.
