Examination of pre-service social studies teachers information literacy in terms of various variables

Abstract (EN)

In today's word, where the source of information increases continuously and technological developments step up day after day, the importance of information literacy rises a lot. When it is thought that teachers have an important role through information transfer, we can realize that specifying teacher's literacy is so important. In this context, the main purpose of survey is examining teacher candidate's level of literacy according to several variable (gender, university, alma mater). This research limited with teacher candidates of 2015-2016 academic year in Fırat University, İnönü University and Adıyaman University. In this context, "The İnformation Literacy Scale" of Adıgüzel (2011) and personal information form are used as a data collection tool. After research, data were analyzed by Descriptive Statistics, T-Test and Anova. According to the results of this survey, teacher candidates determine information sources, types and take not of information sharing. Also, teacher candidates, who think about necessity of information, follow closely technology and thus gain experience of information literacy. They are careful about information sharing, security of information and data privacy. The result of this research, teacher candidates also careful about ethic values and legal rules while they are getting and sharing information.
