Abstract (EN)

The student at the center of the learning-teaching, process in envisaged by the constructivist approach, the idea of accessing the information in place and at the source started to gain weight in the new educational conditions. This situation increases the importance of the practice and travel-observation-based teaching approach used in teaching social studies. The traditional and boring classroom teaching environment that the students used to has to be changed; field trips to natural environments (lake, stream, mountain, etc alan) and places of interest museums, factories help students to gain knowledge and experience theoretical information more enjoyable to ensure the practice and travel-observation-based teaching approach. This helps to form a concrete basis of information and as a result it increases the permanence of knowledge. The aim of the study is to evaluate and determine the views of social studies teacher candidates based on the practice and travel-observation-based teaching approach. In this qualitative research, descriptive analysis method and semi-structured interview form were used. In the interview form, the answers to the questions such as how much candidate teachers are aware of the practice and observation-based teaching approach, the advantages and disadvantages of it, the role it plays for students success and how much the social studies teachers will be using this approach at the beginning of their teaching career, are explored. After the meetings, all opinions have been structured and transfered to the percentage and frequency chart with added annotations. According to these results; social studies teacher candidates emphasized the necessity of obtaining permission from parents. The idea of the practice and travel-observation-based teaching approach which supports learning process and open to experience has got weight. Mostly it proved that teachers do this approach but due to the reasons such as high expenses, accidents and unforeseen incidents, time consuming and formal responsibilities, teachers prefer this approach less and tend to use other teaching approaches instead.
