Social studies teacher candidates' knowledge of social studies education programme for scientific developments

This research was done with the aim of Social Sciences Prospective Teachers' knowledge level detection intended to Contemporary Scientific Development. The research has characteristics of descriptive research in screening model. An achievement test intended to Contemporary Scientific Development was prepared by the researcher in the research. This achievement test was applied to Ahi Evran University, Social Sciences Teaching Department senior students. In the analysis of datas obtained from 96 senior students, frequency, percentile, arithmetic average, standard deviation, and t-test for independent groups, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Post-Hoc Turkey test in comparisons were used.As a result of the research, it is determined that most of the Social Sciences Prospective Teachers' knowledge level intended to Contemporary Scientific Developments is high and middle level. At the same time, it is concluded that the more time prospective teachers spend on internet the more they have high knowledge level of Contemporary Scientific Developments.Based on conclusions obtained from the study, increase in case of prospective teachers' following up printed publications and it is offered that tools like internet connection, computer are provided.
