Digital literacy skill proficiency levels of social studies teachers (Example of Kirşehir)

The aim of this thesis is to determine the digital literacy skill proficiency levels of social studies teachers in Kırşehir province and to find out how they differ according to various variables. In the research, the scanning method was used in the process of obtaining the data on the digital literacy skill proficiency level of social studies teachers. The universe of this research consisted of social studies teachers working throughout the province of Kırşehir in the 2020-2021 academic year. Simple random sampling method was used to form the sample group of the study. Depending on the distance education measures taken as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, the study group was determined as 103 teachers. The data collection tool used in the research consists of two parts. In the first part, the "Personal Information" of the teachers participating in the research was used; in the second part, the "Digital Literacy Scale" developed by Bayrakçı (2020) was used to determine the digital literacy level of the teachers participating in the research. status, professional experience (seniority) year, place of duty, age, family income, having a personal computer, having a constant internet connection, using social networks, regularly followed forum page about the course, regularly followed technology magazines, Demographic variables such as regularly followed technology news sites, receiving education on digital literacy, participation in any symposium, congress, seminar, etc. related to digital literacy, daily time spent on the Internet and the purposes for which the Internet is used most are included. In the analysis of the quantitative data obtained as a result of the research, the data were transferred to the computer environment by using the SPSS 20 program. Tests such as ANOVA and T-test should be used in studies related to normally distributed data. By looking at the skewness and kurtosis values, it was seen that the data had a normal distribution. With the provision of the relevant conditions, it was decided to use tests such as ANOVA and T-test in the analysis of the research data. As a result of the scale applied to determine the digital literacy proficiency perception level of social studies teachers; Ethics and responsibility are also very good, general knowledge and functional skills are moderate, daily use is good, professional production is low, privacy and security are good, and social dimension is moderate.
