Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the attitudes of social studies teachers towards educational research, to be able to follow the researches, to understand the results, to determine the application status in classrooms and to examine the results according to various variables. The study group consists of 146 social studies teachers working in secondary schools in Rize, Trabzon, Artvin city center and districts. In this study which is a mixed research, quantitative and qualitative approach is followed. As a quantitative data collection tool, used 'Teacher Attitude Scale towards for Educational Research' developed by İlhan, Şekerci, Sözbilir and Yıldırım (2013). As a qualitative data collection tool was used interview questions developed by Gitlin, Barlow, Burbank, Kaucak and Stevens (1999) and adapted to Turkish by Çepni and Küçük (2003). After the analyzes, social studies teachers have positive attitude towards educational research depending on various variables and found educational research necessary and valuable, but they stressed that research was not applicable, that their use in schools should be disseminated, that teachers needed to be encouraged.
